The deadlines are looming for entries to one of the island’s key events, the Southern Agricultural Show, held on July 26 and 27, which celebrates its centenary this year.

Entries for the cattle, sheep, heavy horses, light horses, harness, donkeys, goats, vintage machinery, fur and feather, and dog competitions must be submitted to Sarah by Sunday, June 8.
To mark this special centenary year, the show is holding a competition for a local artist to produce a sculpture to be displayed at the show every year, and other venues in the future. Designs must be submitted before June 15.
There is also a new primary school art competition to encourage children to explore and celebrate the island’s agricultural heritage.
The dog agility and companion dog show, held on July 27, can be entered on the day starting at 11am and noon respectively.

Pet owners can enter their pet into the popular fun pet show in the fur and feather tent, register between 11am and 1pm; prize giving is at 3pm. Call Jacqueline Street on 496825 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org for information.
All home grown produce and floral exhibits, confectionery and arts and crafts entries are to be brought to the craft and produce tent before 9.30am on July 26, with completed forms, available from the website, from Sarah, or on the day.
