Drainage investigation means closed roads and possible delays in Castletown

Motorists will face disruption when driving through Castletown as roadworks begin today (August 20) and could last until mid-September.

The first work will be investigation of the drainage system under Alexandra Road because there is subsidence of the pavement and roadway. Traffic will be controlled by traffic lights and the work is expected to last until August 31, depending on what the Department of Infrastructure finds.

The second stage of work, from September 3, involves resurfacing the road between Alexandra Bridge and the junction of Alexandra Road with Malew Road. To minimise disruption, work will take place from 4.30pm to midnight and involve closure of the whole road. This work should take two weeks, weather permitting.
