The first practice session for the 2014 TT was cancelled last night as deteriorating weather conditions prevented any laps from going ahead.

The session was supposed to have kicked off around 6.20pm with the Newcomers’ sighting laps but drizzle turned to heavy and persistent rain leaving standing water in places on the mountain and a heavy mist descended reducing visibility to around 20 to 30 yards in the Verandah area.

Roads closed at the usual times of 5pm for the Mountain and 6pm for the rest of the course and the convoys left taking marshals to duty points between Creg-ny-Baa and Ramsey Hairpin but the weather deteriorated rapidly from 6pm and the decision to abandon practice for the evening was made soon after 6.30pm

The next practice session is tomorrow (Monday) when the Mountain road again closes at 5pm and the rest of the course at 6pm.
