A thief has gone to great heights to steal the Lady Isabella flag from the top of the Laxey Wheel.
Manx National Heritage is appealing for the iconic flag’s return.
The theft took place on Sunday evening when someone climbed over the locked gates of the wheel’s staircase.
A spokeswoman for MNH, which is a charitable trust, said: ‘Our Lady Isabella flag was stolen from the top of the Great Laxey Wheel. We’re quite attached to our lovely flag, which was specially made to fly at the top of the iconic waterwheel.
‘Apart from taking from a charity, the person concerned put themselves in danger by climbing locked gates on the wheel staircase and going up the wheel at night.
‘In addition to giving out a message of responsible behaviour, we’d love to have the flag returned – if anyone knows where it is, please contact Isle of Man Constabulary with reference: P310516020.
‘Alternatively, it can be dropped back to the Laxey Wheel, to any MNH site or to any member of the MNH team.’
