THERE’S been some respite for hard-pressed motorists with a welcome fall in petrol prices.
A mini-price war broke out over the weekend between the two main suppliers to the forecourts – Ellan Vannin Fuels and Manx Petroleums.
Total garages were the first to drop their prices by 1p a litre on Friday, followed the next day by Shell which put theirs down by 2p a litre, which was subsequently matched by Total, taking the price of unleaded to 146.9p a litre. Prices peaked in April at 149.9p a litre.
In the UK, the average price of a litre of unleaded is 135.8p, according to petrol.prices.com
