The Gaiety Theatre in Douglas is to update its advertising curtain by the end of November 2013.
Gaiety operations and technical manager, Seamus Shea, explained: ‘The current curtain replaced the asbestos-based one around the late 1970s.
‘A new solid iron clad curtain was installed and covered with a fireproof canvas cladding.
‘A design sympathetic with Victorian curtains was adopted incorporating differing size panels that could be used to raise funds for the restoration by placing adverts for local companies.
‘These were hand painted and the original design remains to this day,’ says Seamus.
