The Passport and Immigration Office has moved to clarify figures for the number of foreign nationals applying to live, work or study in the island.

There were 816 applications dealt with by the immigration service in 2013/14, including 513 for entry clearance.

Of those 513, 342 were for either general visit visas or business visits visas only.

The service has also pointed out that all enforcement cases have resulted in the migrant returning to their home country at their own expense. There are no enforcement cases pending.
