A cheeky calendar is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for two local charities in memory of a much-missed friend.

Four of the island’s gyms – Carrefour, Nautilus Plus, Elite Fitness and Bodyworx – have joined forces for the Gyms of Mann calendar to raise funds for the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group and Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation.

A cheeky calendar is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for two local charities in memory of the much-missed Adrian Gilmour, one of the leading lights of the island's fitness community who died in 2013 aged 50.

A cheeky calendar is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for two local charities in memory of the much-missed Adrian Gilmour, one of the leading lights of the island's fitness community who died in 2013 aged 50.

The calendar is the brainchild of Carrefour’s Martin Malone, who came up with the idea in memory of Adrian Gilmour, pictured inset, one of the leading lights of the island’s fitness community who died last year aged 50.

Martin said: ‘Adrian was the owner of Carrefour and raised money for a local charity every year by hosting fundraising events. We thought this was a fitting way to remember him and carry on his charitable work.

He added: ‘We thought we could follow in the footsteps of the nurse’s calendar, and give the women of the Isle of Man something to look at.

‘But we’ve tried to do it tastefully – they’re mostly fashion shots, but there are a couple of cheeky ones which should give people a smile.’

The calendars cost £5 and will be on sale from tomorrow (Friday) morning at Intersport on Strand Street, Up and Running on Buck’s Road and from each of the participating gyms.
