An incident in which Head Road, Douglas, was closed this evening (Friday) by the police has been resolved.
A man has been arrested after a ‘domestic’ indident.
A number of police vehicles and an ambulance were at the scene.
There were reports of police with riot equipment in the area during the evening.
But police on the scene were tightlipped.
Head Road from South Quay at the roundabout next to the former Trafalgar pub was shut.
It looked as though the incident was some distance up the road.
While people were allowed to walk up the steps near the bridge further down the quay, they were not allowed to go down hill from the top.
The Manx SPCA took away at least two dogs from the area.
Civil Defence arrived at around 11pm. Their presence suggested the police were at one time expecting to be there for some time.
