DOUGLAS North MHK John Houghton has announced he intends to seek re-election.
Mr Houghton has represented the constituency for the last 15 years. In the past he ran a business at Willaston Post Office and Newsagents.
He said he will be sending out a comprehensive manifesto nearer to the September’s general election but has placed at the top of his list the serious issue of maintaining government revenue in the wake of the VAT bombshell.
He said: ‘This is my number one priority and no doubt will be the number one priority of many other candidates in the election as well.
‘I hope the constituents of Douglas North will continue to support me and in return I will work tirelessly for them in order to achieve their expectations to the best of my ability.’
The other sitting MHK, Bill Henderson, has also announced he intends to stand again in the constituency in the general election.
