THIS picture was snapped by commuter Sean Murray as he travelled home from work on the Jurby coast road.
Mr Murray caught the image at about 4.30pm on Wednesday as he approached Jurby prison.
‘The verges are very soft because of all the rain so I think the crane has sunk in and toppled,’ he said.
‘There was a large four-by-four tractor approaching so I wondered if that was going to help pull it out but we didn’t stop to see,’ he added.
By 6pm police were on the scene and a detour was in place directing traffic away from the incident while the crane was pulled clear.
One driver who was heading from Ballaugh towards the prison said: ‘A car coming the other way flashed me to say the road was blocked so I had to go round a different route.
‘You can see where it happened because there are ruts at least two feet deep. It’s really churned up because the verges are so soft after all the wet weather.’
