Ian Brown to play TT 2010

INDIE legend Ian Brown has announced he will be playing at the TT this year.

The former Stone Roses' frontman's website states he will be performing at the Villa Marina, Douglas, on Saturday, June 5.

The gig has not officially been confirmed by the Department of Tourism and Leisure yet but a spokesman said negotiations are at an advanced stage.

An announcement is due imminently. Ian Brown was the singer on the Stone Roses' classic self-titled debut album as well as the long-awaited follow up, Second Coming.

He then embarked on a highly successful solo career.

Meanwhile top comedian Al Murray, the Pub Landlord, will be returning to the Villa for the TT. He will be appearing on Friday, June 4, the night after Ross Noble returns to the same venue.

An announcement about tickets for Al Murray is due shortly.

There is also due to be an announcement about other live music at the TT soon.

Excellent news. This one gig knocks the entire Bay Festival into a cocked hat..

Completely shocked to see that DTL can get it so right after so many years of getting it so wrong. Well done. Excellent choice. Bay Festival please take note!

Great news. Now cue farcical arrangements for ticket sales...

Hats off to the DTL for this coup. A quality act after all these years of trying. I suppose good things do come to those who wait. I do however find it a little mystifying that Ian Brown would announce this on his site, while all the DTL can state is that 'Negotioations are at an advanced stage.' I'd hazard a guess that the sticking point is the price we're expected to pay. Judging by recent, extortianate tariffs (45 to see Will Young and Status Quo - compared to 20 seeing them in England, anyone?) that we will be made to pay over the odds again. However I for one, will be prepared to shell out on this occasion.

Great news! Fingers crossed for more quality acts and NOT QUILL AGAIN

PS

I think you will find that ticket prices are comparable with those in the uk Chris. Bearing in mind that groups etc all have to bring their equipment over on the Steam Racket, there is bound to be a bit extra on the price. Who cares though if they are bringing in quality acts.

So am I right in assuming that this gig will take place in the Royal hall ? tickets for this will sell out in an hour leaving hundreds of people disappointed about not being able too attend. Why don't they do the logical thing of putting this gig on in the gardens on a stage ? it would then mean there could be 10,000 tickets available to everyone how wants to attend , at least that way the TT tourists would be able to buy a ticket because at the end of the day it's the TT tourists that we need to impress so that they keep coming back !!
