Inflation up, unemployment up

BOTH inflation and unemployment have risen in the Isle of Man.

Official statistics released by government today show that inflation, measured by the retail price index (RPI) stands at 2.8 per cent for September, up from 2.1 per cent for August.

Excluding housing costs, RPI stands at 2.2 per cent.

Measured by the Consumer Prices Index, inflation is 1.8 per cent, up from 1.3 per cent in August.

Unemployment rose by 22 in September, to stand at 1,014. That’s a rate of 2.3 per cent. It’s 124 more than for September 2011.
