The inquest into the death of a man, who died when a wall collapsed on top of him, recorded a verdict of accident.
John Lawrence Gell, aged 52, of Circular Road, Peel, was working for the Water and Sewerage Authority replacing a lead pipe when the five-foot wall fell on top of him.
The inquest yesterday heard that Mr Gell was working with three others in a public footpath, near Marine Parade, Peel, when without warning the wall fell on top of him.
A post mortem examination carried out on Mr Gell showed he died from crush asphyxia.
There will be a longer report in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
