Stuart Gardner is taking over as inspector in charge of the Ramsey-based Northern Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Inspector Gardner began his policing career in 1989 in the Isle of Wight and later in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
In 2002 he transferred to the Isle of Man, where he enjoyed the challenges of community and neighbourhood policing in the West of the island as both a constable and sergeant.
He says that one of his achievements was the setting up and running of the Peel Allotment Society, which was accomplished together with the community in the west of the island and is something from which he continues to get great satisfaction and pleasure.
He said: ‘Neighbourhood and community policing is what I have been involved with and delivered for the greater part of my police service.
‘Being given the opportunity to get to know, understand and serve the communities in the north of the Island is something I am very proud of.
‘I look forward to meeting and working closely with all sections of our community and partner agencies and seek to further strengthen the already excellent working relationships which exist today.’
