COMPETITION WINNER: Susan McCourt, centre, celebrates winning the Isle of Man Newspapers/B&Q Island Gardens competition alongside B&Q stock manager Steve Walton and Isle of Man Newspapers representative Sally-Ann Maiden

WHETHER it’s the canopy of leafy trees along the border, the neat lawn or the orderly vegetable patch that catches your eye – there is no denying this is an attractive garden.

The restful looking seat in the left corner is somewhere you can imagine happily sitting to enjoy the outlook.

And it seems that this garden is popular with our Manx Independent readers too as they voted this Onchan garden the winner of Isle of Man Newspapers/B&Q Island Gardens competition.

B&Q, in Douglas, generously sponsored the competition, which saw readers send in pictures of their gardens that were featured in the Manx Independent for readers to choose their favourites. The top six were then voted on by readers to claim the top prize.

Susan McCourt’s garden in Scott Close was the favourite.

For her prize she was given £500 worth of vouchers to spend at B&Q, which has a large garden section selling all you could possible need for the garden from plants, shrubs and flowers down to the right equipment.

In addition, she received the Island Gardens Trophy, which she will get to keep for the next 12 months.

Isle of Man Newspapers and B&Q thank all those who took part in the competition and who took the time to vote.
