Isle of Man TT: Senior ruled out - Lightweight race to run at 6.15pm

Have your say

THE 2012 Senior TT has been cancelled altogether - but the Lightweight TT is set to run over the full three laps at 6.15pm.

Organisers have made the decision (5.20pm) following a frustrating day of delays and a course inspection, which began at around 4.30pm, involving 19-times winner John McGuinness, experienced campaigner Ian Lougher and leading Manx rider Conor Cummins.

It is understood the Monster Energy Parade Lap will precede the race action at 5.50pm.

The schedule was subject to a series of delays from early this morning, but the Mountain Road eventually closed at 2.30pm with the rest of the course following at 4pm.

It was hoped the Lightweight TT would get away at 5pm over a reduced duration of two-laps, followed by the Monster Energy Parade Lap and then the PokerStars Senior at 6.30pm, over a reduced duration of four laps.

However, conditions remain damp on the Mountain section and there have been showers reported at a number of different locations around 37.73-mile course.

iomtoday will bring you more details as they come to light, plus race reports and footage from the post-race press conference.
