FORMER World Superbike champion James Toseland and his wife, best selling singer-songwriter Katie Melua, flew into the island yesterday (Thursday) to support island charity Manx Cancer Help.

As patron of the charity, he attended the launch of its 30th anniversary campaign held at the Manx Museum last night.

The celebration included a short presentation by chief executive officer Andrea Chambers and clinical psychologist Professor Robin Davidson, and was attended by the Lieutenant Governor and 200 invited guests.

While in the island, James, who owns a house in Port Soderick, also met up with fitness instructor Roger Davies who has taken on a Million Step Challenge in aid of the charity. He began the challenge in May and aims to complete a million steps within a year. To achieve this he will have to climb up and down the gas work steps, in Douglas, 5,377 times.
