Heron and Brearley has donated £1,600 to the Joey Dunlop Foundation.

The money was raised during the TT fortnight, generated through sales of Okell’s 1907 and limited-edition wristbands across the company’s managed estate.

The cheque was presented at The British, Heron and Brearley’s recently refurbished managed house in North Quay, Douglas.

The firm’s retail director Steven Taylor said: ‘The TT is a flagship event in the island’s sporting calendar and does much to promote the Isle of Man to a worldwide audience. At Heron and Brearley we were pleased to play our part in this through these two initiatives. [Okell’s]1907 became an instant hit when it was launched for the Centenary TT and every year its arrival at TT is eagerly anticipated, while the bespoke wristbands sold quickly and were clearly very popular.

‘We’re delighted that consumers’ passion for a quality pint has had such a positive outcome. Coupled to that, our managed houses throughout the Isle of Man take centre stage for those two weeks of the year, offering customers an unequalled blend of hospitality, service and great value food and drink.

‘Against this background it’s thanks to the tremendous hard work and team effort of our people across all areas of the business and the generosity of our local and international customers that we have been able to make such a substantial donation to the Joey Dunlop Foundation.’

Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Foundation trustee Bruce Baker said: ‘We’re extremely appreciative of Heron and Brearley’s continued support. The Joey Dunlop Foundation operates with a committee of fewer than 10 so we are always very grateful to companies such as Heron and Brearley for raising money on our behalf which will go towards our constant programme of improvements at Braddan Bridge House.’
