Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s Isle of Man group is setting up stall in Strand Street, Douglas, tomorrow (Saturday) to raise awareness about the disease and raise money for research to save the lives of people affected by breast cancer.
They have again been given a helping hand by Sunnydale Care Home care manager Julie Clarke, who has spent the past year knitting more than 60 teddies and dolls with a pink theme to be sold on the awareness day.
Last year her creations sold out quickly. This year, her elaborate designs, which she finds relaxing to work on, even include bride and groom teddies. In fact, Julie, of Onchan, is so dedicated that she even takes them with her on holiday to work on.
And she said she hadn’t been able to use the dining table for almost a year as it is laden with different materials.
Staff and residents of Sunnydale are keen supporters of Breakthrough – many take part in the charity’s annual Douglas Bra Dash and they hold fundraising events throughout the year.
The stall will be running from 10am to 4pm, outside Dealz.
