Keirron Tastagh, the adventure sports coach and kayak instructor based at Adventurous Experiences in St John’s, was a guest speaker at a European conference about outdoor sports.
The three-day Euro Meet 2013 was held in Liptovsky Mikulas, Slovakia. One hundred and fifty people discussed the benefits, direction and focus of outdoor sports and their role in sustainable development and provision from local community right up to EU policy level.
Keirron was asked to talk about his adventure club and say how it developed. He also gave a presentation and answered questions on the Isle of Man as an outdoor sports location.
He was also invited to talk at the Scottish Coaching Conference in September and Ireland Adventure Sports Conference in November last year, so his business seems to have become well known outside the island.
Keirron confessed that taking part in the conference was a little daunting.
He was sitting alongside professors and senior representatives from Prague, Strasbourg, Switzerland, Northern Ireland and Britain.
He said: ‘It was an immensely valuable experience. I was exposed to a vast depth of experience, knowledge and ideas, and I’m looking forward to sharing these with policy makers in the island.’
