On arrival, sub officer Alan Brew set up a temporary road closure to help protect the crew and passing motorists.

The fire was quickly put out using two high pressure hose reels, with the water supply being taken from a nearby fire hydrant.

A second appliance from Kirk Michael station attended the incident with a specialist water bowser to help dampen down the affected area.

There was no damage to boundary fences or livestock in the adjoining fields.

Crews were on scene for just over an hour.
