Knife used to slash roof on parked car

The slashed roof

The slashed roof

A vandal slashed the fabric roof of a car parked in a private underground car park in Ramsey.

It happened some time between 6.30pm on Sunday and 10am on Monday.

The car attacked was a red Volkswagen Golf convertible, which was parked at Queen’s Pier Apartments.

Police say the vandal used a knife to slash the entire width of the car’s roof.

A spokesman said: ‘It would appear that, despite various items being within the car, nothing has been reported as stolen.’

Other vehicles in the area were checked but police have received no reports of damage to other vehicles.

The damage appears to be an isolated incident. However police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident or overheard anyone talking about the incident.

A spokesman said: ‘The entire situation has caused the owner of the vehicle considerable upset.’

Ramsey-based Constable Mark Hempsall is investigating. He wants anyone with information about the incident to ring him on 812234 or contact Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
