The Liberal Vannin Party’s summer seminar will be held on Sunday (September 7).

A party spokeman said: ‘As the countdown to the most important general election for generation begins, party chairman, Roy Redmayne, and political members Kate Beecroft MHK and Peter Karran MHK, will address seminar attendees on the importance of change in the political landscape of the Isle of Man. In doing so, they will outline the vital role that LibVan will play in putting in place better people, better policies and better procedures.

‘They will conclude by stating how in the next general election, LibVan is the only vote for democracy.’

Following the opening speeches, experienced mediator Frank Hanna will be th guest speaker.

Party leader Kate Beecroft will be bringing a motion in the afternoon asking members to support the principle that greater emphasis should be placed on mediation as a first port of call when there is dispute.

Mr Hanna will explain how mediation could work effectively on the island.

This will give everyone an opportunity to gain more information before the debate later.

The event is being held at South Douglas Old Friends’ Association’s building on Finch Road, Douglas.

Doors open at 10am with coffee and biscuits with agenda items starting at 10.30am .

The party says everyone is welcome to attend but only members will be able to vote on the motions in the afternoon.

A councillor from Liverpool will be discussing politics with the Liberal Vannin Party tomorrow (Saturday). Click here to read the story
