IF you are driving through Union Mills in the next week or so you may see a familiar face.

The giant statue of Manannan, created and resurrected every year by newly-wed sculptors Darren Jackson and Stephanie Quayle Jackson is now back on the Mannifest site at Glenlough Farm.

The annual family festival, which features live music from both island and visiting talents, returns next weekend (August 3-5).

Stephanie, whose family owns the farm, said the statue which boasts a new hair do and canvas cloak, is now taller than ever.

‘We wanted Manannan to look like he is actually made of the Isle of Man,’ she said, ‘as if he would materialise from his surroundings before disappearing just as quickly - hence all the natural materials. While building him again we’ve found a bird’s nest inside. It’s nice the birds have taken a liking to him too!’
