Manx artist gains Royal Watercolour Society Award

MANX Artist Julie Collins has been presented with the prestigious Royal Watercolour Society Award at Bankside Gallery in London by RWS president, David Paskett.

At a private viewing on the evening of Tuesday, February 23, the top award was given for her two contemporary paintings, Happy Seeds I and Happy Seeds II, two large watercolours on hand-made paper. The paintings, both measuring 95cm by 115cm, will be exhibited at Bankside Gallery, next to Tate Modern, London, until March 10.

Julie was educated at St Ninian’s High School, Douglas, and in 1980 went to the University of Reading to study fine art, where she specialised in painting. She graduated in 1984 with a BA Hons.

During the past 10 years Julie has successfully exhibited her work at numerous galleries and museums throughout the UK and Europe.
