Comedian Rob Heeney has created podcasts featuring three well-known Isle of Man residents.
Born and raised in the Isle of Man, Rob wanted to share some of the island’s characters with the world and has used his hit podcast, People with Stories, to do so.
Each week he features someone telling him real life stories – and the formula has proved a hit with listeners all over the world.
His guests usually come from a wide range of backgrounds, but in celebration of his Manx heritage, he devoted the past three episodes solely to Isle of Man residents.
Rob said: ‘We have a great tradition of storytelling on the Isle of Man and some great characters.
‘I really wanted to share that with my listeners.’
The Isle of Man Trilogy is episode 33, which features local personality Dot Tilbury, episode 34 features member of the madcap Purple Helmets, Derry Kissack and episode 35 showcases singer Katherine Crowe.
He hopes in the future to interview more people from the island for his podcast.
Meanwhile, Rob plans to record his debut live stand-up DVD in the Isle of Man this autumn and is currently looking for an appropriate venue.
‘If anyone would like to suggest a suitable venue in Douglas for the DVD recording, or indeed, someone they think would make a brilliant guest on the podcast, they can email email@example.com,’ he said.
Heeney’s People with Stories is rated a five-star podcast by iTunes.
Over the past decade, Rob has established himself as both an award-winning comedy writer and a top comedian on the live circuit.
