Manx Telecom ready for I'd Do Anything final demand

ENGINEERS at Manx Telecom will be on-hand this Saturday to ensure voting for I'd Do Anything contestant Samantha Barks goes as smoothly as possible.

A problem with software this past Saturday evening meant that Pay As You Go customers trying to vote were unable to do so for a period.

However, an MT spokesman said the issue had been resolved before the voting period for the programme ended.

Samantha, 17, of Laxey, ended up in Sunday night's sing off with Rachel after failing to gather enough of the public's votes, but was saved for the final by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

This Saturday is the final of BBC1's I'd Do Anything, which will see Samantha compete for the last time for the role of Nancy in a new West End show of Oliver.

Mike Loundes, MT director of customer service and chief technology officer, said: 'This weekend coming recognising the importance of it we will have engineers on site monitoring the situation, so if we did get a problem we have them on site.

'We are taking the extra precautions in view of the occasion.'

Samantha will be competing in Saturday's final against Blackpool's Jodie Prenger and Irish teenager Jessie Buckley and the result will be determined entirely by the public vote.

YOUR COMMENTS

Hi, With most of the IOM residents ever so excited this coming Saturday's finals, I believe MAnx Telecom can greatly help in Samantha's cause by reducing its rates just for this final's I'd do Anything. A phone call cost about 21 pence which is still prohibitive to most people especially if you try to call 30 or more times. Could Manx Telecom, just for Saturday's I'd do Anything show reduce its call charge say to about 5 pence? Please??Also Mr Tourism Secretary, anything that would help Samantha's cause would really be appreciated by lots of people in the island who are solidly behind her,. . . as Nanycy!! Many many thanks

ROBERTO
