Have your say

A continental market has been set up in Douglas today.

Organisers say shoppers will be spoilt there until Sunday, August 23, on the promenade.

The products available include food from around the world, South American jewellery and knitwear, homemade candles, Italian silk scarves and some amber jewellery.

The countries represented include Greece, Thailand, Poland, Italy, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.

The initiative has been co-ordinated for Douglas Development Partnership by a UK company called Market Place, which organises continental and special event markets.

The same market was held in Castle Street, Douglas, two years ago.

Market Place operational manager Chris Hulley said: ‘Market Place and its global traders are delighted to be returning to Douglas. We arrived for the first time in 2013 and faced a lovely warm welcome from everyone here so we cannot wait to come back and see everyone again.’

The market will be open from 9am till 7pm every day.
