MISSING: Rosie the cockatiel

THE owner of a wolf-whistling cockatiel which has gone missing from Greeba is appealing for help finding the bird.

Rosie, a 15-month-old white cockatiel with distinctive orange cheeks, hasn’t been seen since August 20.

Rebecca Foulger, aged 24, said she was ‘devastated’ Rosie had gone missing while her boyfriend Neil looked after her at his home in Greeba Towers.

She said he was very upset about what had happened, adding: ‘He loves Rosie almost as much as I do. He’s really great with animals too.

‘She went out of the window – we have two love birds that live with him and I think Rosie was trying to get attention because she’s not used to sharing affection with other birds.

‘Unfortunately domesticated birds don’t have any homing ability so I think she was being naughty and then couldn’t find her way back.’

Rebecca, who is from Onchan but living in Manchester while doing a PhD, said: ‘She is such a lovely bird, very tame and exceptionally clever. She can say “hello baby” and mimic lots of whistling sounds.’

She added: ‘I really think if she saw a person she would land right on their head because she prefers people to birds!’

Anyone who spots Rosie, who has blue tag round her leg, should call 611582, 494325 or 458071.
