Mountain Road reopens following fatal accident

Have your say

THE Mountain Road and another section of the TT course, both closed following serious accidents earlier today, have now reopened.

The mountain was closed to motorists after a fatal crash on the approach to the 32nd Milestone at around 7am, while police carried out investigation and scene clearance.

There were four bikers involved and one, from the UK, was killed.

A serious crash at Alpine, near Bishop’s Court, at around noon, closed the road from Ballaugh Bridge to Douglas Road Corner, Kirk Michael.

Both roads reopened at around 3.30pm.

Meanwhile a road in Ballasalla was closed this morning after a water main burst.

Bridge Road was closed from its junction at Mill Road through to Cross Four Ways from just before 10am until around 3.45pm.

Roads will close this evening for the fourth practice session of the 2012 Isle of man TT. The Mountain Road closes at 5pm and the rest of the course at 6pm.
