Matt Clinton from Balsall Common in the West Midlands was first across the line in yesterday’s End to End Mountain Bike Challenge, clocking a time of just over three hours for the visitor’s first win.
Lonan’s Edward Perry was two minutes behind to clinch second, with defending champion Elliot Baxter coming in third. Derbyshire’s four-time winner Nick Craig finished fifth behind young Manx rider Nick Corlett.
The slower than expected finishes were put down to the tough conditions on the 46-mile course, including headwinds, standing water and plenty of mud, despite the inclusion of the new one-mile ‘all weather’ stretch of the course through Arrasey Plantation.
Today’s Isle of Man Examiner features plenty of pictures from the event plus a short report. A more comprehensive report and full results will appear in Thursday’s Manx Independent.
