TYNWALD members have elected a new presiding officer.
It is Clare Christian MLC, who was voted in by members this morning.
She follows in the footsteps of her father, Sir Charles Kerruish, who was the island’s first President of Tynwald.
In the end, Chief Minister Tony Brown, who had said he would allow his name to be put forward, was not nominated, but it is not yet clear if this was because he changed his mind.
Mrs Christian beat Speaker Steve Rodan in a straight contest.
