Park on the prom for Christmas shopping

THE Christmas shopping season has begun – so that means parking has become a lot easier for people wishing to visit Douglas town centre.

Parking is now free on designated sections of Douglas promenade walkway from 9.30am to 9pm every day up to and including January 5.

Late night shopping began last night and continues every Thursday until Christmas. In addition to promenade parking there will be no charge for parking at the Bottleneck and Shaw’s Brow car parks on pre-Christmas Thursday evenings from 5pm to 10pm and at weekends up to December 24.

A week-long outdoor celebration of the finest food and gifts from the continent is now taking place in the town centre – make sure you take a look before its final day next Thursday (November 29).

A Christmas Emporium will be held in Castle Street and Marina Road every Saturday and Thursday from December 1 up to and including December 22: Saturdays 10am to 5pm, Thursdays 5pm to 9 pm.

The Emporium series builds on the success of last year’s event and will provide a further opportunity for local traders, specialist suppliers and crafters to showcase their products.
