Ramsey Commissioners are asking for planning approval to site a sculpture by local artist Darren Jackson within the regeneration area.

If approved, it will be placed on the paved area in front of the Lifeboat Shop in Market Hill.

The proposed piece is a life-sized bronze statue of a child dressed in RNLI lifeboat crew uniform.

The figure stands on a block of rough hewn granite and the height of the entire piece is 2.5 metres.

It arises from an invitation issued through the Chief Minister’s regeneration committee in consultation with the Isle of Man Arts Council to local artists to produce proposals for public art.
