Police have issued a statement to reassure the public after a heightened presence in Onchan yesterday (Monday) morning.
The movement of officers and a number of police vehicles in the Governor’s Hill and Birch Hill areas led to some residents ringing with concerns.
Inspector Derek Flint commented on behalf of the Isle of Man Constabulary: ‘As a result of information received, we attended the Governor’s/Birch Hill area as we believed someone we are trying to trace was in the area.
‘Unfortunately our efforts proved negative. We understand a few members of the public were concerned by this heightened activity, so we thought it best to put out a media release to try and allay any worries.
‘There is nothing in respect of public safety issues at this time.’
‘We are always glad to hear from the public in respect of any suspicious activity wherever it might occur. Please don’t hesitate to ring us at any time if something you see seems out of the ordinary wherever it is. It’s always best to check things out.’
