The teenager who died in a road accident yesterday has been named.
He was Brad Campbell. He was 17 years old and he lived with his parents and brother in the Onchan area.
He died in a crash at about 12.10am yesterday on the Foxdale Road between the Eairy and the Braaid near its junction with Archallagan plantation.
Police inspector Derek Flint said he had updated Brad’s family with the progress of the investigation in a meeting last night.
He added: ‘At this time, the driver has been released from hospital into police custody and he has now been released on police bail while inquiries progress.
‘The other two passengers remain in hospital, and one is still in the intensive treatment unit. We have spent a good part of the day at the scene of the collision while we recovered evidence and removed the vehicle for further examination.
‘Our inquiries so far have raised a couple of specific matters where we are looking for the public to help.
‘We believe there may have been a car travelling along that road from Braaid to Foxdale around the time of the collision and would like the driver to contact us.
‘Additionally, we are trying to trace a taxi driver who appears to have arrived shortly after the collision and may have tried to help. We’d really like to speak to him also, and would appreciate him giving us a call here at headquarters on 631212.’
Brad was one of four people inside the white three-door Renault Clio which crashed.
He was confirmed dead at the scene.
