Police are investigating the theft of about £1,500 from a Douglas pub.

The money was taken from the Prospect pub, in Prospect Hill, Douglas overnight Monday/Tuesday.

A police spokesman explained: ‘Overnight Monday December 23 unknown persons have entered the Prospect public house whilst it was closed stealing a quantity of cash from within.

‘Police would like to hear from anybody that may know of anybody who has recently come into possession of a large amount of unexplained money.

‘Police would also like to speak to anybody that saw anything suspicious around the Prospect public house or has any information which may assist police with their enquiries.’

He added: ‘Police would like to emphasize that this sort of crime is rare on the Isle of Man and should not be unduly concerned about the safety of their property.’
