Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager was mugged in Douglas.

The incident took place in Villiers Lane near to the Regent Street post office in Douglas around 2.30am on Saturday, May 24.

This afternoon police confirmed that the matter was being treated as robbery.

A local 19-year-old man was arrested on Saturday afternoon in connection with the offence and is currently on police station bail while inquiries continue to be made.

A number of items of property, which were taken from a 17-year-old local youth, remain outstanding, and police are seeking assistance from the public in determining their whereabouts.

The items are a black LG Optimus mobile phone, a brown leather French Connection wallet with yellow interior and a HSBC bank card.

Officers are also keen to speak to anyone who may have been in and around the area of Regent Street between 2am and 3am that morning.
