Police investigating alleged assault

Have your say

POLICE are trying to piece together information about an alleged assault in Ramsey.

They say that a 37-year-old man from Ramsey was assaulted near the Silver Star Takeaway on Chapel Lane in the town.

The incident happened at about 5.50pm on Tuesday (April 30).

A second man from the town, who was also 37 years old, was arrested at the scene by police.

Police want to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident or who may be able to supply further details. In particular, they would like to hear from a woman walking in the area, who is thought to have seen the incident.

Chapel Lane is off Waterloo Road, Ramsey, near the Britannia Public House. Given the time of day, it is likely that passing pedestrians or vehicle drivers, possibly leaving work may have noted the altercation.

Sergeant Andy Kneen said: ‘This incident involved two men that were known to each other.

;The man who was arrested, subsequently appeared in court the following morning charged with assault and with being drunk and disorderly. He was subsequently bailed. The case is ongoing.

‘We are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen what happened.’

Anybody with information should contact Constable Blair Hunt at Ramsey police station on 812234 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
