A visitor to the island who became ill while diving near the Sugarloaf Rock has died.
He has been named as Eric Warburton, a 62-year-old from Whitefield, in Manchester.
Mr Warburton was visiting the island with friends on a pre-planned diving trip when he got into difficulties on Friday afternoon.
Police and ambulance services were contacted shortly after 4pm and a Sea King helicopter was despatched from RAF Valley and the Port St Mary lifeboat launched.
Mr Warburton, who had become ill having surfaced near to the Sugarloaf, was given first aid by fellow divers and then by paramedics waiting at the harbour in Port St Mary.
Despite all their efforts, he died at the scene.
His next of kin has been informed and the Coroner has been notified.
Police inquiries are continuing.
