Port Erin Co-op worker Peter Crebbin has been recognised for his cheerful and helpful service for the third time.
Peter, aged 36, has been nominated in Isle of Man Newspapers’ Pride in Mann Awards in both 2012 and 2015, and has once again been recognised in the Service with a Smile category by regular customer and Colby resident Jane Saywell.
She said: ‘This young lad is cheerful, helpful and also does a lot for charity too. He deserves recognition!’
In her previous nomination Jane said: ‘Peter is always cheerful and very helpful with his customers over the years he has been working with the Co-op store in Port Erin.
‘When I have a big shopping day, he will organise for his colleagues to help me to my car with my shopping. A very worthy nominee indeed.’
Peter, who lives in Ballamaddrell, has been working behind the tills at the Port Erin branch of Co-op for around eight years and goes the extra mile for customers.
He helps carry shopping out to the car park and sometimes even drops it off at the customer’s own home.
In addition, Peter raises money for charity by taking part in the Parish Walk. Last year he raised funds for Sailing for the Disabled and will be supporting the charity once again in this year’s Parish Walk on June 18.
The charity, which was founded in 1984, offers adults and children with physical or mental conditions the chance to sail the charity’s boat.
In the past he has raised £5,000 for the Manx Stroke Foundation from taking on the challenge.
Peter’s achievements are all the more remarkable given that he is autistic.
He said he was ‘very excited’ to be nominated again and wanted to thank Jane for putting him forward for a Pride in Mann award.
Pride in Mann is an awards scheme which aims to recognise extraordinary people in the Manx community. There are eight categories: Charity and Volunteers, Community Champion, Emergency and Health Care, Local Hero, Culture and Art Champion, Service with a smile, Spirit of Youth/Schools and Sporting Achievement - Rising Star.
The deadline for nominations in this year’s awards is Friday, July 1.
