Pub quiz team win £100,000 on National Lottery scratchcard

MEMBERS of a Douglas pub quiz team were celebrating this week after scooping the £100,000 top prize on a National Lottery scratchcard.

The five team members - Christina Edge, Norman Tasker, Linda Brazier and Phil Brazier plus one other who wanted to remain anonymous - will each take a £20,000 share after their triumph at the Manor Hotel in Willaston.

Christina, who works for Junior Achievement, said: ‘We just could not believe it. We thought we had just won £1. We had to check double check and triple check to ensure what we were seeing was really true.’

After 20 years as quiz contestants, Christina said it was their first significant win.

‘I think we won £15 once,’ she said.

The scratchcards are handed out to the winners and runners up, who get several, as well as the losing teams which get one each.

Christina said an Alaskan cruise could be on the cards thanks to the win.

Linda, who runs the Manor along with husband Phil, added: ‘I’ve already started spending it. I’ve just bought a new carpet cleaner! But I think a holiday could be on the cards for us too.’

‘I’d like to think there could be something in a showroom somewhere with my name written on it....no, I’m just joking really. I’ve not decided what to do with it yet,’ said Norman, who is a retired tractor mechanic.

And the team name?

‘We’re called Norman’s no-hopers,’ said Christina.
