HOLDING a referendum on sensitive issues like electoral reform, the VAT deal or our constitutional relationship with the UK risks destabilising the Manx economy, the Chief Minister warned Tynwald.
Allan Bell MHK was quizzed by Onchan MHK Zac Hall over what his policy is on which domestic and international political decisions the Isle of Man Government might hold a referendum.
The Chief Minister said each issue would be considered on its own merits and it was ultimately for Tynwald.
Mr Bell said the island had never to his knowledge had a referendum and said the issues suggested as possible subjects are ‘incredibly sensitive’.
