The funeral of a motorcyclist Neil Walker will take place next week.

It will take place on Thursday (August 28) at St Paul’s Church in Ramsey, followed by interment at Lezayre Churchyard.

Mr Walker, a 43-year-old father of two from Ramsey, was well known through his work as a joiner and as a retained firefighter.

He died on August 6 when his motorcycle and a car collided near Bulgham Bay on the coast road between the Dhoon and Laxey.

His death notice describes him as the beloved husband of Jenny, devoted father of Megan and Jake, and much-loved son of Joan and the late Donald.

The family have requested that there should be family flowers only at the funeral, with donations in lieu to the Hyperbaric Chamber, Manx Grand Prix Helicopter Fund or The Fire Service Benevolent Fund.

The inquest into Mr Walker’s death was opened last week.

It said he died due to multiple injuries.

The full inquest will be heard at a later date.

Funeral directors Corkhill and Callow of 4 Christian Street, Ramsey, are making the arrangements.

After Mr Walker died, chief fire officer Kevin Groom said: ‘Neilwas a truly professional firefighter who had served at Ramsey fire station for over 22 years.’

The driver of the Volkswagen Golf involved in the accident was treated in hospital for a minor head injury but later released. His two passengers were shaken but uninjured.
