Amended plans have been submitted to redevelop the former Follies Cabaret Restaurant in Onchan.

Trevor McCullough, of Mullinaragher Road, Santon, a potential purchaser of the site, applied to planners in May 2013 for 18 two-and three-bedroom houses on the Harbour Road site, once known as Molly’s.

He has now submitted amended plans for 16 houses, with associated infrastructure including roads and drainage.

The proposal is to demolish small outbuildings on the site and build a mixture of three- and four-bedroom houses.

In the design statement, it explains: ‘Whilst pre-application advice had been undertaken with the relevant development control officer (DCO) at the time, the submitted scheme was reviewed by a different DCO who now has responsibility for this area.

‘As a consequence, further, extensive, consultations took place over several months and these culminated in the submission of this revised application.’

Residential properties form the boundary on three sides of the site.

It states the siting of the proposed houses ensures the ‘existing houses substantially look at open space, rather than buildings’.

The footprint of the scheme occupies just over 55 per cent of the footprint for a plan for 24 sheltered housing flats approved on appeal in 2008.
