The first phase of work on the Sea Terminal end of Douglas sea front is progressing well.
The initial work involves preparation and clearing away planters and other street furniture such as bollards and fencing as well as removing traffic islands. Adjustments will soon be made to Walpole Avenue so traffic can be diverted down it from Lord Street.
From this week director of highways Richard Pearson said the traffic flow up Walpole Avenue is to be reversed and traffic in the ferry terminal direction from Lord Street will be diverted along it. The change will remain in place while the two roundabouts by the uilding are resurfaced.
Work to reposition the Jubilee Clock is likely to be done in October and the whole of the work on this section is to be completed by next May.
