LAXEY singing sensation Samantha Barks will play Nancy in the touring production of Oliver, it’s been announced.
Samantha leapt into the public eye in 2008 when she took part in the BBC show I’d Do Anything, a search to find a new star to play the role of Nancy in the West End production.
That time she lost out to Jodie Prenger, coming third overall in the competition.
Now she will finally take to the stage in the role she initially coveted, one that is bound to be more than familiar to her after living and breathing the character throughout the Andrew Lloyd-Webber led series.
Since her I’d Do Anything days, 21-year-old Samantha has carved out a fantastic stage career, firstly in the touring production of Cabaret and then in the coveted role of Eponine in the smash hit West End show Les Miserables.
This week it was announced she will join Neil Morrissey and Brian Conley, who will share the role of Fagin during the tour, due to begin on December 10.
