DRESSED in a stunning black full-length Valentino dress, the Isle of Man’s Sam Barks caught the global media’s eye at this year’s Oscars.

Out of the many A-list actresses attending the ceremony, Esquire.com named Sam the most stunning on the red carpet and she scooped GQ.com’s award for the sexiest woman at the Oscars.

As well as getting the chance to showcase her enviable figure, Sam, aged 22, also had the chance to show off her amazing voice.

Sam, who played Epinone in the hit movie Les Miserables, joined the rest of the cast to perform a live medley of songs from the film.

The film won three Oscars at the 85th Academy Awards – Anne Hathaway was named best supporting actress, Lisa Westcott and Julie Dartnell won best makeup and hairstyling, and the film also took the prize for best sound mixing.

Unsurprisingly, it looks like Sam thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

On Saturday, she Tweeted: ‘Good morning LA!

‘Having an incredible time!

‘It’s very surreal that I think I may have met all of my living idols in two days.’

While two days later, she Tweeted: ‘The Oscars were AMAZING!

‘Personal highlight groovin to “all that jazz” with Hugh Jackman and John Travolta #lifecomplete.’

In one interview on the red carpet she told reporters that the Oscars were different to what she had expected.

‘I thought it would be a lot more manic. It’s actually quite calm.

‘I think it’s something to do with being outside in the weather, it’s nice and sunny.

‘There’s a more calm vibe to it than I thought.’

Meanwhile, Sam is set to return to the island soon.

In the Budget speech Treasury Minister Eddie Teare MHK announced she would star in the next Isle of Man Film production.

‘Our latest film will be A Christmas Candle starring our own Sam Barks, which will begin filming in the next few weeks,’ he revealed.

Isle of Man Film has refused to give more details about the film at this stage.

The last 12 months have been a huge success for Sam.

It was in February last year that theatre producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh told Sam, while she was on stage in Manchester, that she had been chosen to play Eponine in the film version of Les Miserables.

She starred alongside Anne Hathaway Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Amanda Seyfried.

In October she picked up a coveted Hollywood Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Awards Gala Ceremony.
