The seacat had to turn back this morning after a passenger suffered a suspected stroke.
The Manannan departed at 7.15am but was forced to return to Douglas half an hour into its journey to Liverpool.
An ambulance was waiting to escort the passenger off the vessel but no further news of the person’s conditions has been released.
As a consequence, today’s subsequent Manannan services to and from Liverpool have been delayed.
This evening’s Liverpool to Douglas return, originally scheduled for 8.30pm, is now estimated to depart no earlier than 9.30pm – with an anticipated check in no later than 8.45pm.
Steam Packet Company chief executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We apologise for the inconvenience caused. We treat passenger welfare as our top priority and our thoughts are with the affected passenger and family at this time.’
